How to Cascade Goals & Measurements to Multiple Employees

Within Trakstar, you as a manager will have the ability to cascade goals and measurements to multiple employees at a time! This can be helpful if multiple employees are working towards the same goal.

Follow the steps below to learn more!

Cascading Goals

Once you have logged in as a manager, select the dropdown for the Track Goals tab to the left of your screen. Here, you can select into the Goals tab.

From this goals page, you'll be able to view and access your goals library. You can view who is assigned to certain goals that you've created, as well as add new goals into your library using the Add Goal button in the top-right corner.

Selecting Add Goal will prompt you to name the new goal and set a description for it. You'll also be able to select the rating scale to attach to the goal if multiple rating scales are available.

With any goals located in the goals library, you have the ability to cascade them to multiple employees. To do this, you can select the Cascade button that is located to the right of the goal. From the cascade screen, you'll have a few options to select and adjust.

At the very top, you can select the section the goal needs to be added into for each employee. There may only be one option here, or there could be multiple if your company has multiple goal sections that they use!

Next, you can view and adjust the filters based on the employees you're wanting to assign this goal to. Immediately, this will populate at your list of direct reports, but you also have the ability to cascade goals to subordinates (the direct reports of your direct reports). Commonly, goals are added to reviews during the goals and notes phase, so you can adjust the review state accordingly based on which reviews you're needing to add the goal to.

You have the ability to create additional filters as well, such as if you're looking to assign the goal to a particular group or to those who use a specific position.

Once the filters are set, you can then select the employees you'd like to cascade this goal to. You can then proceed to click the Cascade button to successfully add the goal into the employees' reviews.

As this loads, you will be returned to the Goals tab, where you will be able to see the list of employees the goal is assigned to.

Cascading Measurements

Along with cascading goals, you also have the ability to cascade measurements to multiple employees. Keep in mind that you can only cascade measurements to those who have the same goal that the measurement will attach to.

To view the measurements added by your direct reports or subordinates, select into the Current Measurements tab in the Track Goals dropdown. Using the switcher in the top-right corner, you can switch between viewing only direct report measurements or the measurements of all subordinates.

To cascade a measurement, you can select into the row of the measurement. This will populate a box, where you can select to view the employee's review or proceed with the cascade option.

Once you select Cascade, you will be brought to a screen that looks almost identical to the screen for cascading goals! Similarly to when you cascade a goal, you will adjust the filters accordingly, select the employees who need this measurement, and click cascade to successfully add that measurement into their reviews.

Quick Tip: Only measurements that are part of your direct reports' reviews can be cascaded. You cannot cascade measurements added into your subordinates' reviews. Only an employee's direct manager can cascade measurements.

You can refer back to the Current Measurements tab any time in order to view those cascaded measurements or any other measurements that your employees have added. Here, you can view their progress, when they began working on the measurement, and other details as the employee progresses.
