Add Goals to an Employee's Review After the Review Has Started
If you forgot to add goals before an employee began their review, you can still add them during the review cycle.
When new goals are added, employees can complete ratings and comments for those goals without losing any previously submitted responses.
Before You Begin
Before adding goals:
- Verify that you have permission to edit the employee's review.
- Open the employee's active review.
Add a Goal
- Open the employee's review.
- Navigate to the Goals and Notes section.
- Select Add Goal.
- Choose to add an existing goal or create a new goal.
- Complete the goal information.
- Insert the goal into the appropriate review section.
- Save your changes.
The new goal is added to the employee's review.

If the Employee Has Already Submitted Their Self-Review
If the employee has already completed and submitted their self-review, you can still add additional goals.
When a new goal is added:
- The employee's self-review automatically reopens.
- The employee is prompted to provide ratings and comments for the newly added goal.
- Previously completed ratings and comments remain unchanged.
Once the employee submits the updated self-review, the review continues through the normal workflow.
Summary
Goals can be added to an employee's review even after the review has started or after a self-review has been submitted. Adding a new goal automatically reopens the employee's self-review so they can complete the additional goal while preserving their existing responses.
