Update Managers in Bulk

When organizational changes occur—such as employee promotions, management changes, or a manager leaving the organization—you may need to reassign multiple employees to a new manager.

Instead of updating employees one at a time, administrators can use the Bulk Edit feature to update manager assignments for multiple employees simultaneously.


Note: Some older training materials may use the term Position. In Trakstar Perform, this is now referred to as Review Templates.

Update the Assigned Manager for Multiple Employees

Use this method to update an employee's assigned manager going forward.

  1. Sign in as an administrator.
  2. Navigate to Employees.
  3. Select the checkbox next to each employee whose manager you want to update.
    • To quickly locate employees who report to the same manager, sort the list using the Manager column.
  4. Select Bulk Edit.

  5. Expand the Review Details section.
  6. Select the new manager from the Manager drop-down list.
  7. Select Save.

After saving, choose how the current review should be handled.

Leave

Select Leave to keep the current review assigned to the existing manager.

Once the current review is completed and archived, future review cycles will be assigned to the new manager.

Reassign

Select Reassign to immediately transfer the current review to the new manager.

The new manager becomes responsible for the active review.

Cancel

Select Cancel to cancel the current review and generate a new review assigned to the new manager.

When a review is canceled:

  • Goals and notes associated with the review are carried forward to the newly created review.
  • If the review was already in active scoring, completed scoring information is canceled and does not carry over.

Update the Manager for the Current Review Only

In some situations, you may want to temporarily assign a different manager to an active review without changing the employee's permanent manager assignment.

For example, this approach is useful when a manager is on leave and another manager needs to complete the current review cycle.

To update only the current review:

  1. Navigate to Reviews.
  2. Select the Scoring tab.
  3. Select the employees whose current reviews you want to update.
  4. Select Bulk Edit.
  5. Expand the Review Details section.
  6. Select the temporary manager from the Manager drop-down list.
  7. Save your changes.

This update applies only to the current review. After the review is archived, future review cycles will automatically be assigned to the employee's original manager.
