Rater Bias Report

The Rater Bias Report helps you analyze how managers and other raters score employees. By applying filters, you can compare the range of scores given to individual employees or groups of employees and identify patterns in how evaluations are completed.

Use this report to identify raters who may be consistently more lenient or more strict than others, helping promote fair and consistent performance evaluations across your organization.

Access the Rater Bias Report

  1. Sign in to Trakstar Perform as an Administrator or Manager.
  2. From the navigation menu, select Reports.
  3. Click Rater Bias Report.

Select the Review Data

Choose the review documents you want to include in the report.

If the default document lists don't meet your needs, create a New Custom List to analyze a specific group of reviews or employees.

Filter the Results

Use the available filters to narrow the report based on the data you want to analyze.

Managers can also choose the reporting scope by selecting either:

  • Direct Reports
  • All Subordinates

This allows managers to review only their immediate team or include their full reporting hierarchy.

Interpret the Report

The report displays the range of scores assigned by raters, making it easier to identify scoring patterns across employees or employee groups.

Use the report to:

  • Compare scoring patterns between managers.
  • Identify raters who consistently assign unusually high or low ratings.
  • Review scoring trends for specific departments, teams, or locations.
  • Detect inconsistencies that may indicate the need for additional coaching or calibration.

Use the Report to Reduce Rater Bias

The Rater Bias Report can help improve evaluation consistency by highlighting differences in how managers assess employee performance.

Examples of how organizations use this report include:

  • Identifying managers who may be overly lenient or overly strict in their evaluations.
  • Comparing scoring practices across departments or locations.
  • Supporting manager coaching and calibration discussions.
  • Promoting greater consistency and fairness throughout the performance review process.

Best practice: Use the Rater Bias Report alongside regular calibration discussions, clearly defined competencies, performance notes, and 360-degree feedback to help minimize unconscious bias during performance reviews.
